Merkur’s sun rises in Las Vegas
Las Vegas/Espelkamp. At today’s opening of G2E in Las Vegas, Merkur Gaming Americas announced the creation and establishment of Sunshine Games: a dedicated games development studio with a focus on creating exceptional and entertaining game content. Operating from premises in Las Vegas, Sunshine Games is hitting the ground running, having already assembled an 8 strong team of seasoned game design and development professionals, each of them with extensive credentials and considerable experience in gaming, and further recruitment is ongoing.
Sunshine Games, located at 2500 West Sahara Avenue, in close proximity to the Palace Station Casino and just a stone’s throw from the Las Vegas Strip, is being headed up by veteran industry games maker Mike Halvorson who is now responsible for creating new games tailored not only for Merkur Gaming’s entry into the US tribal government gaming and State legislated markets but also with a view to diversifying Merkur’s games content for the global market.
Halvorson readily accepts that the challenge will be intense but says: “I am an ambitious guy and I do not see issues, I see opportunities. From the very outset I could clearly understand that Merkur Gaming has talent and strength in depth. With the support of the entire Gauselmann Group in Germany, and the huge technical resources that they will bring to bear, I am totally confident of success.”
Welcoming the establishment of Sunshine Games Charles Hiten, Merkur Gaming Americas Chief Executive, commented: “This new facility and the skilled team that we have established is a pivotal step in the further development of the Merkur Gaming brand, creating a fantastic new resource that will add to our already impressive games development line-up. Sunshine Games has been tasked with creating a whole new library of fantastic games that will bring new opportunities for our operational customers and pave the way for our progression into new markets. With his wealth of experience and market knowledge I am certain that Mike Halvorson and his team will now harness the support of the Gauselmann Group to their own drive and creativity into this new studio that is a major step in the innovation path to take Merkur Gaming to a whole new level of excellence. I wish Mike and his team every success and my full support as Merkur Gaming’s sun rises in Las Vegas.”
